Today's Flowers and ID If You Can..

These have been growing at the edge of our woods for several years now. I thought they were a type of Iris, have never seen them bloom, they were not in the sun, seem to be an evergreen. I dug up about 11 or so, planted some in one of the flower gardens and some in a container to see what they might do relocated. Even if they do not flower they are a very pretty fan shape and lovely color of green. Have any ideas? The clippers give you and idea of the root structure size and it appears to be in sections.

Hyacinth broke ground.

Milkweed wants to bloom, it just might since we are supposed to be in the low 50's and mid 70's most of the week.

Gerbera Daisies are still at it. Looks strange with some brown leaves in the container too.

Just when I think these Purple Coneflowers are about spent up comes another one.

Rudbeckia trying to bloom again.....

This one is full of sand from all of the rain. (we are down hill)

Petunias might actually fill this bucket.

I think this white Pansy with the yellow center is so dainty looking.

Betcha didn't know Palm Tree bark makes a good Christmas Deer! My older girls are helpers with the younger classes at Church. This is what Kinder Church made last week. Cute!

Show and Tell Friday

This is a Show and Tell because this idea came form my son's 4-k class 18 years ago. I still have his packed up. This is a more recent one.
Here is a cute little craft to keep the children busy for a little while. You need a brown paper sack. Draw or trace a Gingerbread Man and cut it out.

Draw and cut while the bag is folded closed, then you will have the two pieces that you need.
Gather up glue, paint, markers, crayons.....whatever you want to use. I use fabric paint.

Glue the two Gingerbread Men together. Around the entire legs, sides and tops of arms. DO NOT glue the head.

Then decorate however you desire. Fill with favorite candy!!

Yesterday Spring Bulbs, Today...

Black Eyed Susans! These seeds have fallen from the top of the hill where they were planted two years ago now they are at the bottom. (look at the brown leaves mixed in with them) Why they are coming up now...? As you know we have had a few hard freezes here and our winter isn't really until Jan. - Feb. I'm guessing they will get knocked back, soon. Thought this was interesting as I posted about the spring bulbs yesterday.

These are one of the first signs of spring that I look for every year. It was kind of neat seeing them in December. Stay tuned to see what happens with these and the spring bulbs. Oh and by the way.......Do you say, Black Eyed Susan or Black Eye Susan?

Spring Bulbs Already!

Had a break in the rain so I was taking me a walk to see what I could see....
First flower bed out by the road........Daffodils! there are some at the other end of the bed too. Don't pay any attention to the leaves and acorns, we are a long way from all of them falling, they are just getting started good.
Red Brick Castle Wall flower bed.........don't think these are Daffodils (spring bulbs just the same)......I know where I planted bulbs, just don't quite remember what bulbs are planted where.....I know I cannot be the only gardener who does this.

The large full sun flower bed, soon to be Butterfly Garden.....Daffodil. I planted over 70 bulbs so maybe I will have a long flowering season with them.

I know I have some February Bloomers, I don't think that's what all of these are. It's going to be interesting around here. Do you have any spring bulbs popping up? Or is it just weird in Florida?
