Bloomin' Tuesday and Medical Update

Linking up with Jean finally!  Beautiful Bloomin' Tuesday Gardens to be found over at her place.

Pink Mexican Petunia
Gerbera
Gerbera
What is this pod on the Brugmansia aka Angel Trumpet Tree?  I have never seen a seedpod on one before.

Nasturtiam - Lipstick
Turk's Cap
Grandpa Ott's Morning Glory
I am not good at remembering the names of grasses.  This is in a large container with Autumn Joy Sedum.
You can just see the Sedum to the left of the potato vine below..This area is out of control, well is most of my gardens right now.
Torenia or Wishbone.  This had been in my gardens for over 6 years.  I thought I had pulled the most of it up, so glad I didn't.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay ya'll.  My posts have been few and far between about the gardens.  AND I so miss it.  I have been posting from time to time about my crafts and Etsy Store.  I do hope you will hang in there with me as this will always be primarily a gardening blog.
You have read here before about my hip/back/knee issues.  I finally have a diagnosis.  I have a torn labrum (cartalige) in my hip and a bony growth on the femur head.  Femur head is the round ball thingy that fits into the hip socket. The socket is lined with soft tissue and cartalige.  Bony growth is like a bone spur. The bony growth has been rubbing the labrum when my my hip rotates causing a tear, severe pain and a huge decrease in my physical activity.
The plan is to have hip arthroscopy on Sept. 20.  Full recovery is 6 months to 1 year.  3 to 6 weeks on crutches and then a little weight can be put on the hip slowly over time.
If you know of this surgery and have positive information to share I would love to know about it.  If you have negative information I am asking that you please keep it to yourself.
I am now dreaming and rescaping my gardens in my mind as I know I WILL be back out there!
Darla- The hospital that I used to work for did this surgery quite often. I don't know of ANY that were NOT successful. Recovery rates were different but that is normal. I cannot stress enough to NOT DO TOO MUCH TOO SOON. The only real issues I saw happened when people pushed to "get better faster"-and my hubby's grandfather was the perfect one that did that. He did double the exercises they told him to do-hoping it would help him to heal faster- it did the opposite and damaged the surgery. Just do what they tell you and I am sure you will do real well. Blessings- I know how scary it is. xo Diana
I don't think I've ever seen an Angel Trumpet Tree -- amazing. All the plants look so healthy -- especially love the pink shades in the gerbera daisies!
I forgot to add this... I have no "information", but I wish you the best of luck with your surgery and will send up a little prayer for a successful recovery. ;o)
Great news that they have a diagnosis for you, and a date for surgery.
It will be great when you can get out there and garden again.
Love your blooms, Darla! You must've had more rain than us!
A trumpet pod. Very cool.
I'll bet they get you going again good as new. Find yourself a good physical therapist and don't be afraid to ask for help especially carrying stuff. It is amazing how much weight the pelvic area "carries" even if you're holding something in your hands. That central area of the body carries a load and has to move.
Take care!
I'm glad to hear you got a diagnosis and a plan. I don't know anything about that kind of surgery, but from reading the first comment above, it sounds like it should help. I will keep you in my prayers!
So glad you got a diagnosis! I think you will be happy once it is behind you. My mom had two hip replacements, yes I know yours is not a replacement, but once she came out of surgery after the first one----the first thing she said was that she was no longer in pain. To fix the spur and allow the area to heal will be so much better. Will be thinking of you.
Great blooms!!
That's right, Darla Dear. You keep a positive attitude. I also KNOW you're going to be back out there and without the pain of that stupid bone-thing. I'm so glad the end is near. I know the recovery and rehab will be difficult but I'm with you in prayer.
Your gardens look wonderful as always. I SO wish I could grow the things you can. That pink Brugmansia is AWESOME and the seedpod is a kick! Maybe you'll get baby Brugs. :) The Mexican Petunia is so pretty and the Gerbera--the color I love. I've never heard of 'Lipstick' Nasturtium. Very pretty! I've got a lighter pink one called 'Cherry' or something like that. The grass, if no one has IDed it, is Panicum 'Shenandoah.'I have several clumps of this in my garden and I love them. Love the Torenia too. So sweet. Sending hugs!
I'm very glad you've got a diagnosis, Darla - horrible for you to have to go through surgery, but afterwards, as time goes by, you will notice an improvement every day, I am sure! Good advice not to overdo things during the recovery period - for any operation really. Wishing you all the very best for the procedure, and the recovery, and hope you will soon be comfortable again, and fully mobile.
Thanks for your comment on my blog - sad to see Dad looking as he does, small and frail in his hospital bed - the took him in in the end, to get the infection stabilised, and give him a full assessment. Mum is vulnerable on her own and my hubby is popping over every day. I am hoping to go tomorrow to see them both, but today I'm having a restful day at home as it doesn't do me any good to overdo things or have too much stress.
Glad you enjoyed rummaging around my desk!!
Happy belated WOYWW,
