Fertilizer and Skywatch Friday..

Drop on by http://tootsietime.blogspot.com and see who's fertilizing on Fridays. These may be two of my favorite containers. Dahlberg Daisy, Intensia Cabernet Phlox hybrid, Diamond Frost Euphorbia
and the other side, Royal Wave Blue Petunia.
JacobinaIt's still raining.

Zinnia with Vinca

Nasturtium Whirlybird mix and Forget Me Nots.
Susans, Peter's Gold Carpet, Cosmos, Clematis on the lattice, Marigold, Zinnia and Hot Lips Salvia. Who planted the big flower in the middle?
I put this container in the middle of a chair. Red Fountain Grass, Mezoo Doreanthus, Luna Alyssum and small gold Celosia. Gerbera Daisy in the container to the left, Sweet Potato Vine in front, Purple Coneflowers and Society Garlic on the left.
(I would like to see how you use chairs in the garden)
A small portion of my full sun garden.

Skywatch Friday at http://skyley.blogspot.com
See the two planes? Bi-level planes? Thought they were neat. Gray skies all around us this week.

Beautiful flowers Darla. How do you keep your grass edged so neatly around your beds? :-)--Randy

Beautiful flowers, as usual. I noticed that you have a couple of cocopeat hanging pots. How do you keep them watered? Mine dry out so fast. And I also saw your vinca. Mine is about 3 feet tall now (never stops growing, even in winter) Is that Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen flying overhead?

Looks like the weekend will be more of the same! Happy SkyWatch!

I like the little flower in the center. She looks so sweet. Love all the color in you gardens. Your sun garden is so full. Happy Memorial Day. Becca

Randy: I answered your question on your blog post.

Prospero: The cocopeat pots have drought tolerant plants in them and of course a good moisture retaining soil helps a lot. The vinca was just planted a month or so ago, I have some coming back from last year that is taller.

Darla I bought almost the same 2 waves - a really bright pink and dark purple - to put in a chair and spread all over the broken arms. Can't wait to see your (oops forgot the name) Jacob something when it opens up. Your sun gardens are super!

Your petunias look fabulous as do all your flowers. How much time do you spend out there each day tending to all these beauties?!

Oh so that's what it is called - Vinca. Where I grew up, Vinca is tagged as a graveyard flower.

DARLA!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited to see your Jacobean! I have tons of them and NO ONE else calls them that but me, my mom and grandma! I have seen them called Flamingo Plant, Pine Burr Geranium and more commonly Justicia! I am ever MORE excited to see yours blooming because that means mine will be blooming soon! I have white and pink. I am on the look out for a yellow one

I love the chair ,what an original idea! We have all had outside chairs that the seats fall out of or rot away, its the first time I have seen them put to such good use! Top marks.

Ooh rain, I want some more of that wet stuff! ;) Your flowers are really soaking up this moisture & fertilizer, they look great. I used to have a wooden seatless chair in my garden that I put a piece of chickenwire lined with spagnum moss for a planter. It rotted after about 5 years in the elements. :( I'm always looking for one on the curb.

Rebecca said...

I actually may have that very chair! It sits in front of my "Christmas cabin" among some fern and other perennials....I'm pretty sure I have a picture of it in my garden blog....I enjoy your choice of flowers/plants & explanations of them.

Rebecca said...

I checked! It is in the May 5th post on sceneinourgarden.blogspot.com
I'm pretty sure it is identical to yours....

Well, you have done it again! Gorgeous pictures. Wishing you good health.

So, your growing pretty young girls in your garden too?
{your not in the way of this big 24" rain predicted for parts of Florida today are you? Either way, take care:}

Have you ever taken a wide angle shot of your home and gardens. I don't remember but would love to see how this looks from across the street. They must all love you! Well, almost all of them. It looks so pretty.

How pretty! I wish I'd spent more time in my yard. All I have blooming is my rose bushes and some pots I just planted of petunias. The girl flower is probably the best in your garden. :-D
