Close Call and Skywatch!

We had some terrible weather this morning. My husband is a Construction Superintendent, he has been overseeing a very large 2 year project at an Elementary School. This morning he was sitting in his job trailer when he heard a weird noise. He got up to look out the window in time to see a tornado rip the roof off of the school. He had no where to go (that trailer office would have been in the next county!) He started praying for it to go away, it went back into the sky. Praise God there were no injuries and school is out for the summer. On the noon o'clock news they said there was no indication of tornadic movement. Tornados are one of Mother Nature's unpredictable and sometimes undetectable mysteries. It was quite an experience for him. We don't normally have this type of weather activity around here. I can't wait to get the whole story when he gets home from work, if he gets home tonight. Can't leave the roof open, hope there isn't too much rain damage either. The phone just rang....he said, "Don't know when I'll be home, do whatever you want for dinner."

Between the hot days and the afternoon thunderboomers we get to see the sunset rays. Photo taken from our front porch this past Monday, June 1, 2009.

What a weird thing to happen to your husband. I bet he hasn't processed it yet, or you, either for that matter. I'm glad no one was hurt.

Your skies are lovely there!

Hi Darla, what a scary moment for your husband and thank goodness the kids were not there! Mother Nature..beautiful one moment (like your skywatch) and NOT the next!

Have fun tomorrow shopping! I love all the blooms in the garden right now! My black-eyed susans don't bloom until end July/August! You are way ahead :)

Holy smokes!! I'm so glad everyone is okay. Tornadoes are such scary things to me - I've seen their devastation first-hand and I want nothing to do with one ever.

Wow, that is amazing. So thankful for the Lord's care of him! I can't imagine how scary that must have been.

The pictures are lovely, but hopefully your skies will stay clear and tornado free!

Hi Darla~~ Thank you so much for sharing how God's mercy was evidenced in such a bold way. You've had some potentially tragic events recently, haven't you? I'm glad the kids weren't there and that there were no injuries.

We've had freak storms here in the PNW too. Our usually placid weather has been the polar opposite with funnel clouds, torrential rain, ear-splitting thunder. In Corvallis, about five miles from here, winds were clocked at 71 mph this afternoon.
But all is well now, thank God.

That would be so scary. So glad he was protected. Hope he gets to come home soon. It sure makes you think the next time you tell them goodbye in the morning, doesn't it?
I am so thankful for him being safe.

Oh Darla, I'm so glad that nothing more serious happened. That is TOO close a call. SCARY!!!!

Tornadoes can do so much damage--and many times, we don't have warning.

Take care and give hubby an extra hug tonight....
Hugs,
Betsy

I'm happy DH is okay and that the school was empty of students - how strange that there were no warnings!

The skys are beautiful.

Wow, that is crazy! Anytime there is severe weather I am always o the look for tornadoes. I am guessing they aren't as plentiful in Florida as they are other states.

Darla that is such a disappointment to the school construction and means more work for Hubby. Just glad no one was injured. It must be scary to see what a storm can do. The sun coming from the clouds is just beautiful. It just screams a promise of better things to come on the horizon.

Hi, I'm visiting from Tootsie's place.

Wow, some close call! I can't even imagine. We don't have tornados along the Miss. Coast where I live usually - except for in the midst of hurricanes. Prayer is awesome isn't it??!! Much simpler but yesterday I was grilling and it kept rumbling so I prayed for the Lord to please hold it off and made it through my grilling, yay!

I love when the rays come through like that. Just gorgeous.

Beautiful garden - you should link up to Tootsie's FF!

We mostly have hurricanes to be fearful of, and only the occasional tornado.

The houses are solid here and hurricanes typically do limited, though widespread damage.

But I almost think tornadoes are worse since they cause so much damage, albeit to a more narrow area.

You got some beautiful pictures of the sunset. I'm glad your husband is okay -- he got closer to a tornado than I would care to be.

We are getting some stormy weather here tonight and lots of glorious rain along with it. The sky photos are gorgeous. :)

What a close call -- tornados are very serious. They are part of prairie life in May and June.

This is very beautiful and interesting sky so that can be know that and visiting in that place so very well and enjoyable also. Often people are very like it and enjoy it.
