This and That Thursday...

Just some random garden shots. Photos taken last evening.
Cosmos, Purple Coneflowers, Forget Me Nots and part of the Cleome to the left.
Mailbox containers placed in the center of the Liriope.
Purple Coneflower Echinacea purpurea, Forget Me Knots and Marigold.

I like the blue mixed in here. Because I was unsure of the nature of Forget Me Nots, this is a container placed in the other flowers.
Black Eyed Susans Rudbeckia in the back. My wheel barrow needs to be replanted, the two weeks of rain we had saddened the Petunias. The Sage to the left and bottom right looks good.

Black Eyed Susan, Rudbeckia aka Muppet Flower..... Top

Front--Look how thick the stem is.

Back. Did you know that the Rudbeckia is the host plant for Silvery Checkerspot butterfly caterpillar?
Phlox
The Purple Coneflowers Echinacea purpurea are really starting to put on a show.

This Gerbera is more of a red than orange.

I am loving how this area is filling in. The Potato Vine Ipomoea Spp. 'Marguerite' -Morning Glory Family, returned from last year.
Zinnia, Vinca and some Dahlberg Daisy peeking in.

My first EVER Aloe bud.

This container is placed between two Asparagus Ferns.
I know the bird bath needs to be cleaned!! Scarlet Beebalm--Monarda is about 4 feet tall. These stems were weighted down by the rain.

While these were not.

Ahh, my first white Butterfly Bush. Buddleia 'White Profusion'

That's it for This and That Thursday!

Everything is so bright and beautiful...I especially like the tiny pops of blue from the forget-me-nots and have made a mental note to add them next year.

Question on the muppet flowers - are they mutant or are they supposed to grow that way? I must have missed the post where you explained them.

Love coming here as always ;)

Marsha: Mutant for sure! I have some strange things happen with my flowers.

No, I din't know that. And I didn't know that aloe blooms either. I'll have to work on that one with my aloe.

I love seeing all that echinacea! I just can't wait to see them here. I have a tall red monarda called 'Jacob Cline' that looks a lot like yours. The hummingbirds go crazy over it.

My mother had aloe for years and this is the first time I've seen one bloom! Good for you!--Randy

Darla - I love the coneflowers. As usual everything is looking so good in your neck of the woods. I would love to visit your place one day.

I love how you mix it up. Love your mailbox bed with the lirope surrounding the flowers. Your bee balm, does it get mildew?

Lovely flowers and lots of different ones which I like. I envy you the coneflowers - every time I try to grow them they die on me.

Everything is filling in nicely Darla. I love the plantings around the mailbox, clever you to tuck the containers behind the Lirope. :)

I like "this and that" for a post. Very nice! The sweet potatoes can be eaten after they are finished, but I didn't know they could come back. I guess we have some kind of potato vine that does, but the nursery people had told us it was an annual. It grows huge each year.

More gorgeous flowers, Darla. Your yard must be a show-place. WOW!!!

I have never seen an Aloe bud/bloom. I didn't even know that they bloom. I have one in a pot--and we use it for burns, etc.

Love that white butterfly bush.. Gorgeous!!!

Hugs,
Betsy

Wow. Your yard is glorious. My mouth dropped open looking at that Rhuda-something flower. I've never seen anything like that before.
