After a 'little' research I am now leaning toward this being a type of Blanket Flower. You were right Ms. Leedra.
I guess I never really know what color Roses this bush is going to make. Some start out pale yellow and turn pink, some start out pink and turn yellow.

those roses must be a marvel to see --- starting out from one color and finishing with another :)... and i think they are spectacular when in between...

i would also love to grow those yellow rudbeckias...their conic center is such a delight to see :)...

You are calling the rudbeckias, what's the difference between those, blanket flowers and black eyed susans........help please. I think I grow all of them and just call them black eyed susans.

i think black eyed susan is the common name of rudbeckia hirta... "rudbeckia" i believe is the genus name... maybe i made a mistake in calling them rudbeckias (i based it on the hair on the stems and leaves of the plant)... regarding blanket flowers, i think we call them "gaillardia" here... and the difference between the two (blanket flowers and black-eyed susan) i think is the way they grow their leaves: for black-eyed susan, their leaves are alternately arranged and they are covered in hair; for blanket flowers, leaves are linear... and the disc floret/center is more conic with black-eyed susans than blanket flowers...

that's what i know... i'm still a neophyte when it comes to gardening... i'm sorry if i confused you with my mistake in calling your blanket flowers "rudbeckias"...

but who knows, maybe what you have is a hybrid between the two :)... hope this helps (and i didn't confuse you even more with y last remark about hybrids)...

Love the shot looking down on the rose bud. Reading your other comments...So have you checked the leaves to see if they are alternated or linear? I will check my blanket plant tomorrow to see what I think. I kind of go with a cross between the 2. Have never seen the one you have before, and it does not look exactly like mine, but there are various plants in the same family.

Hmm - I can identify the rose but not the first blanket flower - but love your photos of all of them!

I just came across a new blog. You need to visit it at www.marsha-garden.blogspot.com, look at her post on Thurs, Aug 21. Is that your flower? Ask her what it is. The center of hers does look like black eyed susan. What do you think?
