Nativity Scenes

This is a very simple Nativity Scene that I just adore. This Nativity Scene is the big deal with our children. When you turn it on the Wisemen with the Camels go around the circle and when they get in front of the manger they turn to look at baby Jesus and pause for a couple of seconds, it also plays 20 different Christmas Songs. One of the three girls is always standing here looking and changing the songs........loudly. I love to see them hanging around Jesus!!
My oldest daughter and my Mom, (again) bought this for me years ago.

Don't forget to click to enlarge so you can see the details.

Love the first nativity, what is it made of? The second one, I don't think I have every seen one like it! How cool is that? Love the pausing to adore Jesus part! Too cool:)

Carla- it feels like a plastic resin mix, it's very lite. It looks heavy even in person. The box is in the basement, sorry.

I think those are both cute but I love the first one.

We put out the Nativity Scene, but without the Christ Child, and then on Christmas we put Him in the manger. Our youngest grandson did not like doing that this year. He wanted Jesus right there NOW!

I love Nativities. I would love the one by Willow Tree - way too much money!

It's so nice that you have memories of your mom all over. :)

That first nativity scene is adorable! We haven't gotten our decorations out yet. Hopefully, the kids will help this weekend.

Darla,

I like your nativity sets. I'd been looking for a vintage one for years and never could find the right one. Last year, I bought a new one, and I'm very happy with it. This year I need to add the wise men.

Thank you for stopping by my garden blog Instrument of Grace. I have a crafty/scrapbook/reading blog, too although it doesn't get updated as often. It's Toomuchstuff. Please stop by sometime!

I love this!!!!! It's just so perfect. I think even tho you think it's 'simple'....it's perfect because of the simple unadorned lifestyle of Mary and Joseph at the time of the birth...it couldn't be more perfect for the season.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I love to have company. You made my day. Have a great weekend.

I have a friend that collects Nativity Scenes, has them from all over the world. Some of the most beautiful I have seen, keeps them out all year. She would be envious of this one.

I love nativity scenes. My Mom had a tiny one made of painted lead figures. Sadly I only have one piece of it now but it goes out with some of the others every year. Like you, I think it's important to have them out during the holidays so the kids will know it not all about presents.

What a unique nativity set. Very nice! I love all your Mom's painted Christmas decorations. I remember making those angels myself. Great treasure! Our treasures seem to mean even more at Christmas. Jean

Great!
An excellent symbol to teach the children about Christ's birth...
and the meaning of Christmas.

I've always like nativity scenes. I also like those little houses. My house is so small I've got limited space to display anything like that but I do make room for my nativity set.
