A Colorful Easter!

Walking Iris - Neomarcia gracilis
In Finland it is called Apostolinmiekka, which means Apostles' Sword or Apostles' Flower.
When the plant has 12 0r 13 leaves, the leaves are the disciples and Jesus rises in the middle of the plant (the flower).
The flower only lasts a day.
*All parts of the plant are poisonous if ingested*

Petunia Easy Wave Blue

In this container we have - Intensia Cabernet, Phlox hybrid pink
Dahlberg Daisy yellow
Proven Winners Diamond Frost Euphorbia white
Proven Winners Supertunia Raspberry Blast, Petunia hybrid is doing good.
I love the brightness of the 'Profusion Double Fire" Zinnia orange
Red and white Petunias
Snapdragons
Clown Blue Torenia- Wishbone, Blue colored trumpet-shaped flowers with deep blue markings, each cupping has a little "wishbone" inside the bloom throat. These re-seed heavily year after year.

The girls found all of the eggs, hard-boiled and plastic!!

I love the yellow inside the purple of the Wisteria--perfect colors for Easter.

I do hope your Easter was colorful too!

Welcome back Dorothy at http://mawdot.blogspot.com ! Dorothy gave up blogging for Lent and so inspired me that I gave up daytime T.V. Thank you for being a positive spiritual influence Dorothy.

I just saw the walking iris on Jan's blog. It is pretty cool! The girls look so happy and Easter must've been grand for them to find all those eggs.

I got my wave pelunias in pots. Did you know that the blue waves are the only ones that have a (sweet) smell. Some don''t think it is sweet.

Good Morning Darla!
Your flowers are just gorgeous!

It's great to be back among my friends! Thanks for not forgetting me. I appreciate your support and encourgement during Lent. It is very humbling to think that my little blog could inspire anyone in a positive way. Besides the selfish aspect of just enjoying blogging, my greatest desire is to share,in some small way, God's love, peace, joy and beauty that I find everywhere in our beautiful world.

You had a beautiful Easter garden to enjoy and in which to hide Easter eggs. It sounds as if your family had a great day. The walking iris is very interesting -- I had not been aware of that plant before.

How wonderful to be back and to catch up on reading your blog!

What a beauty that Iris is and I didn't know the Easter story behind it. Wonderful - I took several photos of passion flowers on vacation for the same reasons.

Love all the color you currently have - all such beautiful flower choices you have made.

Roses and Lilacs: The walking Iris was given to me by my mother in law about three years ago. We didn't know what it was at first, research and of course, Ms. Doris confirmed it's name. They fall over, touch the ground, root and begin another Iris, therefore hence the name, Walking Iris. They seem to be more common here than I thought!

I feel sheepish...I post about bizarre bathrooms and you post about pretty flowers and happy things. I need therapy. Loved the flowers...it makes me ache for spring here in New England. Have a great day!

It does look like it was colorful there! I can't wait to see some of those flowers in bloom here, although it'll be awhile still.
Looks like your girls had a nice day too.

Sounds like a great Easter in your household, Darla... Are you going to continue staying away from daytime TV now??? I gave up the 'soaps' and Dr. Phil and Oprah about 5-6 yrs. ago---and I had watched some of them all of my adult life. Now--we only watch the news on Fox TV.. Of course, today's news can be like a soap!!!! ha

Beautiful flowers. I've never heard of that first photo of that Iris.. Interesting...

Your Zinnias are pretty... My mother also grew them--in addition to the Snapdragons.

Hugs,
Betsy

Betsy: Believe it or not it's more the Golden Girls that I used to HAVE to watch everyday. Today I have no desire at all to turn the T.V. on, so I'm just going with that. My husband said last week that the electric bill will be lower next month, could it be because the T.V. has been turned off?

You like a lot of the same flowers as me. That Raspberry Blast steals the show doesn't it? Happy Easter season to you too. That's an interesting story about the Iris.

That is one interesting Iris. I've never seen or heard of it before. What a colorful Easter you've had in the garden. :)

No daytime TV? Perish the thought! Not really. Just Dr.Phil.

Love your photos. The sunshine on your girls' faces warms my heart.

You asked about the celosia. They're germinating! Just starting! I planted the seed about a week ago. I'm completely ecstatic. I'll keep you posted. Thank you again, my friend.

What a beautiful garden! You must be so proud! The walking iris is so cool and weird too - LOL. Your girls are super cute - what a great photo of them too!

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. Still can't see them but hopefully someday I will!

You have no idea how wonderful it is to see the pictures of your flowers. I love my garden but am allergic to pollen, so it is so hard to talk myself into going out there.

Even with meds and shots it still can get me going! I need to get out there because right now I am growing weeds!!!!

It sounds like you and your family had a great time together for Easter. I don't know how you can remember the names of all the flowers you plant!

When you look close at the Wisteria it looks like little orchids all in there. Still waiting on the blooms on mine to see if I ended out with the white or purple or both.
