I know you are tired of looking at these mums, everytime and I mean everytime I go look at them it is covered with visitors. All types of bees, moths, and butterflies. I just went outside to set out the sprinkler and this is what I saw. There were many more and about 8 Clouded Sulphurs on the Pineapple Sage, now that has been a huge hit with the butterflies and hummingbirds this year. So apparently the cold snap last night only bothered me!
Is this a Zipper?

The first one looks like a Painted Lady. The last one maybe some type of swallowtail, your guess is as good as mine. :)
Thank you for your comments on my posts. The mums are very special, I brought some here after my mom passed away and man have they flourished, I know she's proud of them. I learned most of my gardening from her.
The first is a Painted Lady, very similiar to the American Painted Lady, but different top and bottom.
I am going out on a limb here....think the last one is a Great Purple Hairstreak. Not a swallowtail.
Leedra, A painted lady? I thought they were butterflies, this looks like a moth to me??? You already know that I am just learning about all of this, thanks for being a good patient teacher.
We use this web site when we are trying to find out about butterflies and or moths.Maybe it will help you.

I agree with Perennial gardener on both accounts. I'm not too up on my butterflies except Monarch and swallowtails.
Hi Darla,
Whatever, they are all very beautiful. I'm on vacation, so posting and comments may be sketchy.
Stop by for a special award!
I never tire of the butterflies and flowers - very nice photos today!
I love your butterfly photos. Always favorites of mine. The mum is really beautiful. I wonder if it would be hardy in my garden?

I agree with prior comments, the first one is a Painted Lady and the last one is a Great Purple Hairstreak. Google each of them and click on Images and you'll see some pics. Great shots!
Darla: Thanks for sharing these. Our butterflies are gone for the year and I love to see them. That last one is beautiful and that name is really a mouthful. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! What wonderful butterfly pictures! I love the mums and the butterflies! Jean
