Today's Flowers
These are a few of my Pansies. I had every intention of photographing just flowers when I stumbled on this...Some strange looking spider on my Double Knock Out Roses.
I took a couple of photos and then it appeared the web was moving. Baby spiders!
A ton of them!
I decided since it is Today's Flowers I might want to post the Double Knock Out Rose as well as the Spider and Family that was on it. Enlarge, it's a must!!

Hi Darla! How exciting! And great photos of them too :)
It's a Green Lynx Spider. We had one at our house last year, but haven't found any this year.
They don't make traditional webs. They wait for their prey to come along and then quickly snatch them and eat them much like preying mantids do. They leave little bits of webby trails but that's about it.
I've had green lynx spiders on my plumbago and thryallis. They are really interesting to watch stalk and then attack their prey. I have a picture of one attacking a bumblebee here.
I had never noticed them before I saw a bunch of babies. They caught my eye and a closer look revealed the big mama spider. Now I notice them quite often.

Oh my goodness, Darla - my spine is all a heebies-jeebies now!
Wonderful pictures - the color of the pansies is my favorite color!
It looked like they were going to eat that rose bush.

Yikes look at that spider/spiders! I love the shade of purple on these sweet pansies!!
Great flowers and even greater photos of spider and offspring!
Love those pansies texture..
I've had those same spiders too! They have these big nest looking things and tons of babies all caught up inside the webs.

The photos of the pansies and rose are very lovely and vibrant!
The spider photos look a bit scary as I am not fond of them.
It amazes me you were able to get close enough to photograph all of those spiders. Are you getting brave?
Oh my Gosh! I haven't been over here for a while and am spending some time catching up with your posts. I can't believe all those spiders! Yikes!
