Great shots. That is an interesting grasshopper. It almost looks bronzed in the photos. And that yellow/pink moth is so pretty. I've never seen one like that before.

I've never seen a moth that color before. How pretty!

Darla, I like these pictures! The moth with the fuzzy blue/green head may be a Skipper of some kind. I have never seen one like this or the yellow and pink one, either. They are pretty and interesting.

Darla, you always find a way to make bugs non-creepy, maybe except for the spider, but everything else actually looks really cool :D

I am pretty sure the black one with the white spots is a Skipper, been meaning to get the book out to see which one. I had this same one for the first time about a month or so ago. Haven't gotten around to posting it. Gotta save something for winter.

The grasshopper is cool!

I agree with Dorothy, the insect on the yellow and orange flowers is actually some type of skipper.
Great photos.

Hi Darla! Thanks for visiting my blog! I saw this post and also wanted to say that that is a butterfly (the brown and white one) and I'm trying to find it in my book but it's a mystery to me. I thought it was a skipper too but it looks like a Longtail (which I think is a type of skipper). I'm interested if you figure it out! A good sourse is bugguide.net if you send them a picture they will usually respond in minutes!!
Have a great day!

Hi Darla, your skipper is a Long-tailed Skipper like the one seen here:
