Help With A Flower and So Far, So Good..

Can you tell me what this flower is. I see it every morning taking the girls to school, this morning I stopped and took this photo, it's quite a large bush, tried to look for seeds before the people came out of their duplex. Going to try again in the morning. There's a purple vine hanging by the road next to an eating establishment that our youngest and myself have planned to check out on the way to pick up her sisters this afternoon. Will ask for help with that one too. Enlarge, the leaves are soft and fuzzy.Just now I walked around the yard, it's really nice out now 53, no wind and great sunshine. This is what I saw. Jasmine with bloom and more to come.
Fan Flower doesn't look to bad.

We covered the newly planted flowers on the wall. The pineapple sage in the back looks okay.
Mexican Sage looks...a little frazzled, but holding it's own.
Cat Whiskers burnt on top, looks pretty green on the bottom.
Verbena looks a little better actually.

This Pineapple Sage wasn't hurt at all.

I have a Jacobina covered here, everything else is fine in this area.
This Lacecap Hydrangea doesn't seemed bothered, it's only been in the ground about 3 months.
Persian Shield is fine. It was a tiny piece I stuck in the ground to see if it would root and it did, so it's not very big. I did bring my other one inside along with a couple of tropicals. I have a lot of things covered and will stay that way one more night.
I didn't walk around the entire yard and boy those Sunflower Trees........I don't know, will post them tomorrow.

A lovely series of flowers, and I'm afraid I am not that knowledgeable so will pay attention to what others have to say. Enjoyed each one. Thanks for visiting my blog :)

Glad you didn't have too much damage, Darla. How cold did it get? It was 18 here this morning. Brrrrr!!! I don't know your unknown flower.. Sorry!!! BUT--I love Jasmine. I have a big Jasmine bush--but it's gone dormant now for the winter!!
Hugs,
Betsy

Oh my gosh, I am finally getting back into the swing of things and catching up on my fellow bloggers.

First, love the shots of your property. So beautiful. You certainly have your hands full - I couldn't do it!

Second, LOVE your Watery Wednesday pics! I love when the trees here freeze over and they sparkle in the sun. I remember in college seeing our quad like that, but by the time I went back to get my camera, it had all melted.

Third, love the buckets over the plants! Is that because of the frost? I can't believe you had such cold weather. Here in NJ we are at about 32 degrees (at 4pm). Poor people who are there on vacation right now!

OK - I think I have babbled on long enough ... :)

Darla, your unknown flower is called Tibouchina aka Princess Flower. Beautiful purple flowers, soft fuzzy leaves, I love these. I used to have one but I lost it one winter. It died back and didn't return in the Spring.

I don't know about seeds... but you can grow Tibouchina quite easily from cuttings.

Betsy- can't believe that Jasmine is blooming..again. I love it too, I have to types on different trellises.

rosemarie- the buckets are for the frost and you cannot babble to much for me, glad you are back.

Greenjeans- thanks for the ID, you want me to go back to a strangers house, get a cutting and get shot?!
I will have my clippers with me in the morning.

Isaw where you really got some cold down there. I am relieved to see your plants fared well. I don't think they would miss a cutting-you seem to be able to grow things from cuttings so it is worth a try. Let us know if you get shot at. :)

I loved this tour around your garden, it is amazing to me how well your garden did with that cold of temps. At least I got to see what the pineapple sage was supposed to look like, both of mine froze out before I ever saw a bloom.

That unknown flower looks beautiful and the Jasmine too. Man, that's quite a work to cover them all. Good luck with them all surviving through the frost.

The pineapple sage must be a hearty flower. You have such a beautiful variety!

Darla: You really have to work to keep your garden looking this good. Nicely done with the results.

I do the bucket thing but mostly in the spring to protect new growth from a late freeze. I enjoy seeing your blooms. Mine are all done for this year;)

It's that time of the year when things are going to get frost damage. I just let it happen. I do use the bucket or pot approach in the sping in case of a late frost.
