Visit With My Friend

This morning I went to visit my dear friend in Coonbottom, it's less than 10 miles from where I live. Her neighbor had cut back his grapevine and wanted to know if I wanted some. Well, of course. Now my girls will have fun making wreaths. Here are some of what she still has blooming.

This is a cute little fishing boy she has tucked between her Zinnias and Peppers.
This is Homer the pigeon. My neighbor rescued him, he is blind in one eye and can't fly. They gave him to my friends son. Homer lives in a cage on their front porch. Sweet bird.
Vinca.

Nice Tomatoes, YUM!
Cherry Tomatoes, YUMMIER!

Zinnias

I don't recall seeing such a light color yellow Marigold.
She and her husband remodeled the house she grew up in, her brother who has passed now planted this Oak Tree when he was a little boy. It is beautiful!

I believe her Mom planted this tree, I love it. It gets large white blooms on it. She gave me a piece and it's doing great. Can't recall it's name?

I love that oak tree - the way the branches are flowing out of the top especially.

Thanks for the kick-in-the-butt on my site - I need it! I'll be updating my progress now and then ... it's going to be a bumpy ride! :)

Love the little fishing boy--and the pigeon. I went back and read your response to my comment about the tithonia. I didn't know that. I will try it next time one breaks.

Really nice shots! Love the butterflies. These make me feel guilty that I'm not out in my yard.

It is so great to see flowers and veggies still growing somewhere. And to see all the butterflies and bees now that ours are gone. Lovely post.

Great visit and post. Hard to pick a favorite, but you know me and butterflies...

Darla,

Lovely photos. Isn't is a delight how the butterflies and bees sit while we take their photos. I think the warm sun lulls them!

Your friend has a very fine garden and the tree begs to be climbed!

Darla, Great pictures!!! I love the Vinca. We have it in our yard all summer.. It's a sun-lover, so we put it in our beds where there's alot of sunshine and we put Impatiens in the shady beds. Nice combination!!!

Darla, I love your flower pictures--they continue after so many of us have no flowers left to photograph! :-) That is one incredible tree! See if you can find out what kind it is. I would love to know.
