My First Give-A-Way!

Soy Wax flakes. Double Boiler
Melting the Wax
Fragrances
Soy Wax color chips
Some candles I made this morning. They are cooling. (this one is not complete)

Various containers I have used for candles.

This is my 325th post since I began blogging in August of 2008. Hadn't a clue I have posted so much. (I guess I must be addicted) I enjoy making Soy Candles in various containers. My Soy Wax candles are hand-poured and will burn longer and cleaner than paraffin Wax. 100% biodegradable and 100% paraffin free. Soy Wax is natural. Test show that paraffin candles can produce a variety of harmful substances including benzene and toluene, known carcinogens. You will be making the environment cleaner and supporting the American Farmer when you use these candles. Once you wash the containers with hot soapy water they are re-usable for anything.

I will be making 5 candles. Three candles will go to the first winner and one candle each to the second and third place winner. You will have your choice of fragrance and color, containers will be a surprise.

Fragrances are: Lavender, Boysenberry, Jasmine, Strawberry, Cinnamon and Spice, Pumpkin Pie Spice, Southern Butter Pecan, French Vanilla, Orange Creamsicle, Apple Orchard, Amaretto Apple Crisp, Cucumber Melon, Rain, Island Getaway, Baby Powder, Wave Crest, Iced Cranberry, Plumeria, Airburst, Rose Passion, Pomegranate, Star Fruit, or Slices of Fruit. (I am sure these are not all)

Color Choices are: Red/Pinkish, Blue, White, Yellow, Orange or Green.
Leave a comment and you will be entered. Post about it on your blog and let me know, you will be entered two more times. Make sure you add the link so they can click on it and come back here.
You must have commented by midnight on March 20th, First Day of Spring, in order to be entered. I will have each of my three girls draw a name from a container for the three winners!

Winners will be posted March 21st.

Well, you know I am in. I already love your candles. I also would love to make some. I have a few questions that you might want to answer here so everyone can see. Is that the only thing that you use that pan for or can you reuse it? Also, can you give a list of items that I need to purchase to make some of these? Where do you buy these items? Your containers- glass, metal, anything else? Thanks for this give away! It will be on my sidebar!

Don't forget to add a link it you post this on your blog. The containers are re-usable for anything once they are cleaned.

Val: Going to the nursey right now, will answer your questions tomorrow!! Okie Dokie?

Darla: How fun, I'll try to mention you tomorrow when I do Wednesday's post. You had to do some double posting to get this many already. I'm glad you found this addiction my friend.

And to piggy back on Val's question...how much do you think it costs to make 1 candle. I ask because my wife looooovvvvves candles. I grew up 10 min. from Yankee Candle's home base in Deerfield, MA and once my wife visited there once...it was over! She's been a YC fanatic since. As you can imagine.....it can be a little expensive! lol. I'm thinking....hey she could make them herself too! So, I was just wondering how yours compare cost wise & quality wise? I know they look awesome.

I'll make some candles too! Great idea! What do you think of puting some dried leaves in the glass pots in order to decorate the wax?

You are one talented lady! They look great, I've never tried soy candles before, but anything that burns cleaner sounds like a winner to me. :)

Hi Darla, I would love a handmade candle by you. I recently started burning some here and boy do they make the house smell sweet. I have blueberry. Never heard of soy candles before. At first I thought you were giving away the wax, lol. No thanks! Got so much to do already so an already made one is perfect.

I just found you by way of Shelley at Log Cabin in Michigan.
I love your garden picture. I'm wishing spring was here and would bring some rain. We are in a serious drought in central Texas.

A new candle would make me happy!

Hi Darla, count me in! I didn't know that about parafin and soy wax. Thanks for the head's up, even if I don't win anything. I used to make candles to sell with dried flowers and leaves on the outer shell. But didn't know about soy I am ashamed to say. Yours sound like they smell divine. :-)

I love soy candles--they burn so much cleaner than regular ones. Whoever wins these will be very lucky!

Wow! Over 300 posts? I just passed my one-year mark, and I don't have half that many:) Quite an accomplishment, Darla!

Oh wow! Enter me in for sure! I love soy wax - with asthma, you gotta pay attention to these things. Soy burns SO much cleaner and so much better to support farmers rather than oil companies.

Just posted about it on my latest post!

Darla, this is a great idea. I love soy candle, they are the only type we burn. Especially after reading about the toxicity of the other ones.

I had no idea that we both started out blogs at the same time. Congrats on your first give a way.

Yes, I'd like to be entered. (And the offer still holds for you with my handmade gift, which I am still working on...and can add 1 more). It would be nice
