Bloomin' Tuesday...

Not to be outdone by the Ornamental Kale--the flowering Cabbage is getting in on the act.
Daff- Large Cup Ice Follies -- last of the Daffs to bloom!

This Hibiscus is so root bound............in ground or larger container ? That has been my question.

Nasturtium sowed the seeds right in this container there's some Forget-Me-Nots in the center.

I bought this one because I was unsure of the the seeds. I have several different kinds scattered around...........when do they bloom and how large do the plants grow?

Store bought Celosia smaller than the type that reseeds crazily in my garden.

I am enjoying this Cleome, bought two plants and now the seeds I sowed directly in the ground are coming up.

Struggling Impatiens.......they will do fine.

Cyclamen--we have had about 4 inches of rain this past week and now they are predicting 6 -12 inches more in the next 3 days............Let's just hope that "they" are a little off in their prediction!

Yeah, yeah, we all know that this is red Salvia not orange!

Petunias

Petunias

Petunias

and some more Petunias with Marigold and Alyssum seedling coming out the side of the planter.

No, these are not all of my Petunias by any means.

Dianthus

Dianthus

Dianthus............of course I have more of this too!

and just because I am still trying to get better at the bird photography (it's not easy for me) here are two Mourning Doves.

For more Blommin' Tuesday click the banner to the lower right of my page! Thanks for hosting this Jean!!

The nasturtium look wonderful! Mine usually bloom about 5 weeks or so ( midsummer). I usually put the seed right in the border of my garden or the trailing kind in window boxes filled with herbs. I have never planted them in a hanging container - cool idea. Did you know you can eat them?
Here is a note about Nasturtium I looked up for you: "Good for beds, training on trellis or fence. All- America Winner. Annual. Trailing type. Ht. 3ft. GARDEN HINTS: Prefers poor dry soil, as rich, moist soils produce all foliage and few blooms. Does not trans- plant well, If raised indoors, sow seed in pots, temperature 65 deg. F, and transplant carefully."

Stop by and see what I have shared for Bloom Tuesday!

You have tons of blooms in your garden right now Darla! I love the variegated leaves on your Nasturium, they can get quite large but will look lovely draped over the edge of your containers. Since your area is milder than mine I would suggest planting the Hibiscus in the ground.

Darla - those are some great photos of the daffodil and oh just all of it. Looks like you have some wonderful gardens growing there. I might try the hibiscus in the ground.

Amazing what a month in a garden can bring, thanks for sharing your flowers!

Beautiful flowers, Darla. You have many that I have never heard of --but they are pretty. My mother used to have Nasturtiums.

Your Impatiens look great compared to mine. I tried to keep a couple inside during the winter and they just didn't do well. I'll start over in May with some--although the rabbits like them for dinner (the the Liquid Fence doesn't work for them)... Grrrrrr!

You have beautiful Petunias also. I've never had good luck with them.

That cabbage really showed its stuff, didn't it???? ha
Hugs,
Betsy

Beautiful series of various lovely flowers! I love them all. Nasturtimus reminds me of my childhood because my grandmother loved them very much and always had those lovely flowers in her garden. Now, I simply have to buy its seed and try to grow it in my flower pot. Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos.

once, we fed the birds in a bird feeder, and the doves would come and clean up the ground underneath. I very much enjoyed them. I'm loving your blooms, diathus are a fav of mine, and petunias must really do well for you-so pretty! I hope my babies re-seed this year for me:)

Jean said...

That's just not fair!! All your plants look wonderful! Do you replant the petunias or do they just keep growing? I love all the beautiful colors, especially compared to my white! Great post! Jean

Jean: the petunias will grow almost all year if they are not in the direct sun at the hottest times of the year. These petunias I actually planted in November. The frost/freeze kills the blooms but not the plant and it gives them time to grow rather large too. Mosty if the petunias get to spent you can prune them back to a couple of inches from the ground and get a second showing.

WELL I AM JEALOUS, we still have snow on the ground here!!!!!! i went out and looked around today and the spring bulbs are just starting to pop out, we still have some mulch around stuff too. I am on the hunt for a wrought iron plant STAND, not a hanger but a stand to put on my front porch, so if anyone has any suggestions where to look for one, please let me know.

Darla: What a super show of flowers. Your yard is so bright with flowers. Have a great trip with the hubby.

Question time. Since your petunias don't die during the winter (like ours do) how long will a petunia last? A year or two, or is the plant life of a petunia longer than that?

George said...

You're showing the last of your daffodils and we're just getting a good start. It looks as if Spring has definitely arrived at your house!
