My Neighbor's Backyard Garden..for Bloomin' Tuesday.

Ms. Doris is one of the sweetest neighbor's I have ever had the pleasure of living by ....and.....she's a gardener, that's probably why, hahah! There is no way I could have photographed her entire gardens today, our time was limited. It was a very nice visit and full of chatter about this plant and that plant, fertilizer, leaf compost, and seed starting to name a few, you know how it is when gardeners finally get together!

We were standing in her back yard next to her deck. Potting shed to the left, driveway to the right. You actually walk right into her gardens from the end of the driveway by the garage.

We turned to the left and took this path to the way back of her gardens. This is about half way in the back. The back of her home to the right.
Saw a garden helper along the way.

This is the path we took to get to the back.
Ms. Doris has this Bluebird house tucked in the Jasmine under the arbor. I love this!
Another garden helper.
This is the same path with more of the gardens shown on the right. The first photo is the path to the right of this and there is another path to the left, didn't photograph that one.
Found several Bromeliads in different stages of blooming.

This has to be one of my favorite things. A broken planter with a plant coming out of it. I think I will take another look at my broken planters before I toss them out.
Can't remember the name of most of the plants she has, she can throw names as easy as breathing.
Beautiful Daffs

Camellia

Grape Hyacinth
The beautiful Azaleas

Why I did not take a photo of the gardener, the Lord only knows. I can't wait to go back when all of her things are in bloom and do another post. You will be very surprised at all she has tucked away in this backyard garden! (she has a wealth of plants) I didn't even come close to showing you the entire backyard. Remember our time was limited and we had to chat some. Thank you Ms. Doris and I do look forward to visiting again. I put the Camellia cutting in root tone and then in some sand!

what a nice visit, thanks for including us. I save my broken pots and put them in the ground for frog(or toad) houses, my Mom taught me this, they like to get up in them for protection

How nice for both of you! I'm sure she enjoyed showing off. :)

I know I say this ALL THE TIME - but I think those white and yellow daffs are officially my favorite flower. For now.

You had to have a nice neighbor they equal each other out. For you she couldn't be a better neighbor. When/if you don't have something in bloom I am sure she will. Vice/versa

Your word verification is light....you are light to alot of us. Thank you!

Hi Darla, what a delight to have a gardening neighbor. Her back yard is full of joy and wonder with those nice large trees. I love meandering paths through the woods like that. I bet she has some real treasures. Can't wait to see more.

That's not a backyard that's an estate! And it is so beautiful. What fun to have that so close. Glad you have good neighbors to make up for the other!

So many beautiful blooms. I love azaleas, they sit all year long and then in the spring they burst forth with a million blooms. Thanks for the tour. Hugs, Rosemarie

Oh Darla, I'm so looking forward to Spring and Summer! I've started my backyard schematic already, and I'm just scratching myself silly waiting to see what perennials decide to show up in the back yard this year! :) Too bad I still have a good couple of months before anything really makes surface. Til then I'll stop by and drool over yours, if you don't mind! :)

I just love her bridge and arches. All of the blooms are so pretty to see. And so large.

Well Mrs. Darling, Ms Doris may have a pretty yard --but yours is JUST as pretty. She may have more walking paths and do-dads---but your flowers are JUST as pretty...

When you mentioned your neighbor--I wondered if it was that "MEAN" neighbor... I knew NOT though --since mean people would never have beautiful gardens. They just have yappy dogs!!! ha ha

Hugs,
Betsy

Deb: Never thought about toad houses, good advice.

Rosemarie: Glad you have a favorite Daff, plant some! You only have to do it once...the girls would love to get nice and dirty for a good old' bubble bath!!

Leedra: You are a sweet spirit, thank you for taking the time to visit me. I Kind of made up with the mean neighbor, at least she thinks so anyway.

Jean: It is hard to leave her gardens when I visit. She makes it easier for me because she always shares something that I need to run home and try to root or plant.

Tina: You are quite welcome.

Frances: It's one of those gardens that photos do NO justice for. It is a paradise!

Catherine: It is nice to have a garden like hers just three doors down. The trees do make it very nice.

Gardeness: Estate is exactly what I thought the first time she invited me to see it.

Mildred: I can't wait to show off her gardens for her as her dormant plants begin to emerge.

Carla: Wow is right. It was my pleasure to share my good friends hardwork with you all.

Sugarplum: I do love how the azaleas burst into bloom too.

Niartist: Where have you been hiding? Standing at the window wondering what will re-surface this year? We all do that. Please visit and drool all you want, LOL.

Hocking Hills: That bridge is a wonderful asset to her gardens for sure.

Betsy: You are just so in my corner and I love it. I have learned a lot from Ms. Doris and try to store what she tells me in my memory bank. I appreciate that you think my flowers are worthy as well. That mean neighbor and I are waving at each other now....Because it's the right thing to do aarg!

PC: I am honored that you look forward to my Tuesday posts, that is so sweet. I will let her know that you enjoyed her gardens and would like to see more.

Those Azaleas look pretty, our blooms here seem to be over. Oh, and I wouldn't want snow to fall now, lol, not this close to big growth heading our way with this weekend and next weeks 80's.

What a cool idea to photo a friends garden. Sometimes a different eye can bring to life something that we take for granted. I wonder if that happened for your friend?

Randy Emmitt said...

Wow, Doris's place is something. One might just want to have a glass of tea and sit back and take it all in.

I envy anyone with a yard large enough for pathways, let alone multiple paths and wooded areas!

Your neighbor had a great idea putting that bluebird box under the arbor. It is pretty and functional!

Perhaps I'll suggest we get an arbor and that will be where I put the birdhouse I ought to get :) Not sure where it'll fit, but we just might have a corner somewhere! Buildings take up most of our yard. Oh well. It's the price we pay for living in suburban California.

so nice you have the chance to visit your neighbour's garden.. the garden must be so pretty when springs come! she seems to have pretty flowers too!

Hi Darla, obviously not the neighbour from hell?! I have been reading down some posts as I have not been on for a couple of days.I do resuse cracked or broken pots in the same way, if they are on a saucer the plant looks as if it is spilling out, slow growing plants like succulents are best. I have had people trying to straighten it up as they thought it had fallen over!
re comments, I generally put in one answer to all comments unless somebody asks a specific question which I will try to answer.
I agree serious gardening time is coming in and spending ages on the computer will probably go out the window1

Wow! What a yard! I'm sooo jealous!

Those are wonderful photos. I love to wander thru gardens. Thanks for taking me.

I like the broken pot too. At first the arbor looked like a bridge. I wish I had something like that in my garden.
