More Important Than Gardening...

Some of you already know yesterday was one of the worst days for a mom. First, a doctor's visit confirmed walking pneumonia in our 14 year old. Later a long distance call from our 24 year old crying, she was watching an apartment complex with flames coming out of two apartments. Then, at 10:34 last night a call from the hospital. My son was/is a victim of home invasion. Beat with an assault rifle, stomped in the chest with rifle in face and then made to walk around his home and tell the bad guy where some things were located. Then he and 3 of his friends shoved in the bathroom, made to count to 100 while the 3 or more bad guys cleaned out the house. Left to bleed to death and scared out of their minds. They finally came out of the bathroom when all was quiet and went straight to the hospital. So many sutures underneath the doctor lost count.

Physically, at this point, so far so good.

Emotionally, MUCH needed prayers. For his friends as well. Prayers for the police in piecing this puzzle together.

Oh, Darla,
My heart goes out to you. What a horrible thing to happen to your son! Does he live out of town, too? I'll pray for him. I hope your daughter is feeling better, and your younger son is healing.

Don't get down on yourself for crying. You will stop when you're ready. God knows your pain, and will help you through it.

Sue- no my son is here in town and thankfully with me now.

Thanks for all of the prayers, my son can't seem to quit crying either and he's a big tough guy, I guess seeing that hurts my heart.

Oh my gosh, Darla. That is the most awful thing. Did he recognize these thugs? What monsters we have roaming our towns.

I pray he will be ok. I know he will be slow to get over it emotionally, but physically ok is a good start.

How absolutely dreadful. It sounds as if your son was pretty brave in the face of all that. Probably the best thing is for him to show emotion now and not bottle it up for possible problems later. My heart goes out to you all.

You obviously have lots of prayers being said for you, your family and for the others who went through this. Like others have already said, I hope the bad guys are caught soon.

Darla, as a family our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Nothing prepared me for how I would feel about my daughter before I had her, and the thought of anyone hurting her breaks my heart - I cannot know the pain you are feeling - but please know that you are not alone in this.

There are people all over the world thinking of you all and sending you love and prayers

This is absolutely repugnant!

The idiots who committed this crime should along with long prison sentences be subjected to the same kind of beating they subjected your son to!

I do hope and pray that his recovery is complete and quick.

OMG!! Now I'm caught up! I'm so sorry- At least he's still alive. (A similar incident happened to my stepson's best friend this time last year and he was killed. But he was probably involved with drugs and while he didn't deserve it, wasn't totally innocent either.) At least your son is ok. Hopefully his head and heart won't scar too badly.

Ooooh, Darla, his face looks much worse than my son's at the moment. Keith's injuries are inside with broken bones though. But even so as their mothers we can't even imagine someone slamming fist or rifles into their sweet faces. They are still precious little faces to us. My son is 46—this happened the day after his birthday—and he is still my little fella that struggles so hard to come into this world! I hope your sweet son is doing well now, sweetpea.
xoxo,
Connie
