Watery Wednesday

My husband made icicles for me again. It is 10:19 a.m. here in North Florida and it is just 32 degrees outside. These icicles were made in the way back of our yard with a sprinkler, in the second photo you will see one of the sprinklers frozen.

How sweet! I'm so sick of ice cycles and snow I could just move to Mexico! Literally! LOL! It's not been above 10 degrees here for over 2 weeks - I think I'm officially frozen to the knee.

Last week I was excited about icicles, even have some photos to post. Today I am going to have a hard time getting excited about them. My water is frozen and cannot reach my husband, way down there at Rockwood.

Icicles in Florida? That's got to be more rare than snow in Raleigh, NC! Which... we have.

I've heard of citrus growers opening up the sprinklers to form an ice coating to insulate their trees and crop though, so I knew it happened... guess I'm just surprised to actually see it. Even in the northern part of the state.

Gosh! I never thought of making my own. How wonderful. I just photograph nature made icicles.
I am though surprised you get such temperatures in FLORIDA. I always see just sunny beaches or alligator infested swamps on pictures from your part of the world. I did not think it ever went to freezing.
Live and learn.

How neat that you can have icicles in Florida! That's an ingenious thing to do, really. While the weather is cold enough it's a great idea! And the photos make them look like a frozen waterfall;)

Darla---So you have 'homemade' icicles... How pretty!!!! You could actually post these and tell people "Look what we have in Florida!" But--I guess that would be deceitful!!! ha
Hugs,
Betsy

Don't they look strange sticking up from the grass like that? I hope you don't get any damage to your garden plants.

Beautiful photos. I live in central Florida and we has a hard freeze last night. It was 29 degrees when I checked outside at 8:00 am. One of our pipes we have for our hose froze, but thawed as it warmed up thank God!!

Icicles and Florida just don't seem to go together, but it was nice of your husband to make some for you. After nearly a week of cold weather I want to see liquid water!
Thanks for visiting my site.

Hi Darla,
I think that is such a fun thing to do. I don't think they would have melted today if they were here.

After reading all the comments, I see that I'm not alone in thinking "icicles in Florida!?" I had imagined Florida as one place to escape such freezing weather in the US winter!!

The detail and focus in these images are wonderful. Kudos to hubby for creating such beauty, and kudos to you for capturing his gift to you so well.
