Bloomin' Tuesday...

Its Blooomin' Tuesday! My flower bed on top of the hill by the street. Pansies, Candytuft, Ornamental Kale, Lambs Ear, Irises, Daffs coming up and sad Double Knockout Roses. Larger view, Petunias, Stock, Snapdragons (which I cut back last night) Sad Daisy Mums, Rosemary, Firebush Nandina and more spring bulbs surfacing.
Verbena has not stopped blooming yet, not as pretty, but hanging on just the same.
What the heck? I have grown Gerbera Daisies in the ground before and they die back in the winter and come back in the spring. These two plants I grew in pots this last spring/summer and they get bit by the frost and continue to bloom. The pink one is loaded underneath. I know they look tired, I just keep admiring their determination.

The old stand by for guaranteed color all through the winter. I have Pansies sprinkled all over the place, here are just two photos of them.

Now, these next photos are not blooms (yet), they are indeed sprouts of future flowers to come!
There is a small Oak Tree in my largest flower garden and I planted, Larkspur, Lupine and Foxglove around it, apparently they like the mild winter here. Have never tried these before, when the temp drops below freezing I do cover them with a sheet. I also noticed a ton of Wishbone coming up around this tree as well. I have a dried hanging basket of them in this tree and they are heavy reseeders.

Larkspur
Lupine (had Foxglove listed here earlier, Jean corrected me, thank you)
Here are the seeds that I started indoors a few weeks ago. The two tall plants are Red Firespike that I rooted before the freezing temps came.
The large white container is the Hot Lips Salvia I just purchased. Yes, I carry these plants in and out of the house according the the temps.

I love looking at plants and flowers in the bud stage - I don't know why, though! Those last two pics are so cool to me.

(I am feeling a little better - the girls have colds now, of course!)

Girl, you have so much energy you wear me out. Have you ever heard of the winter blahs? Didn't think so, you are actually an inspiration, and a reminder of what the rest of us will have come spring and summer.

Oh, and by the way, you don't run around after them. They won't sit still for that. LOL

Darla, You are the queen of all the gardeners! It's amazing to have that much blooming in the dead of winter! They are all beautiful!

Just looking at your first few photos I felt like I was gazing at spring. All your young seedlings look so healthy. How smart for you to label them. Last year I planted some in the same little peat pots and didn't label them. It was a guessing game as to what was growing. I definitely have to remember the labels this year.

Beautiful Darla.. I love seeing your seeds 'sprout' in the little containers. Thanks for keeping us updated on their progress.

You must have one gorgeous yard. We have Candy Tuft also--but it won't bloom here 'til spring..

Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Betsy

Oh I'm so longing for spring! Daffodils and Iris, we haven't even seen crocus here yet. What is the flowering ground cover you have in white? I've seen something similar to it in pink and blue. I can't remember what they told me it was though - only last until about June here, then it's just green.

Hi Darla, oh so healthy and pretty. I love seeing the babies in the flat. We will be so happy when it is warm enough to let ours go outside, it seems so far away now, but gets closer to that time with each passing day. Love your wagon of pansies!

I'm very impressed with your flower bed and all the work you do. Unfortunately we have to wait here in Tennessee before we see much of anything that's green.

Bountiful blooms today Darla! You are so lucky to have things hanging on and going strong still. Look forward to seeing all your baby seedlings get bigger!

It's good to know I'm not the only one hauling plants in and out with the weather's ups and downs. I should have bought some pansies last fall. Nice winter color.

Hi Darla
I love all your blooms today!
I also have some gerbera daisies that are still holding on with blooms. Can't wait to see all those starter plants in full bloom!
I always enjoy visiting your garden! It always brightens my day!

Spring should be spectacular at your place! Looks like you put a lot of work into getting ready. My prep every fall is to throw a few handfuls of wildflower seeds into the granite groundcover. If they come up, fine, if not, fine. But, I do envy those who go to all the trouble to have a beautiful garden!

The only things I have blooming in my yard are roses and weeds. I've been so neglect. I've got to get out and work in my yard. Thanks for sharing your pics. They're giving me inspiration.

Darla, your garden is so pretty and peaceful looking. I am SO jealous of your Spring-like displays while I'm sitting here freezing to death in Ohio! You are very fortunate.

You have quite the green thumb!

Thanks for sharing.

It's amazing how many northern flowers (larkspur, daffodils) you can grow just north of us here in the center of the state. You're off to a good start with all your new seedlings.

It should be a few weeks until pansies can be planted here. I am so excited! I like your other flowers, too.

I so enjoyed your blog!I don't blog, but my sister doe's(Muddy Boot Dreams), which is how I found you.
I love the narsissus and plan to put some in my garden this fall. You are so lucky to live in such a nice climate, we still have over a foot of snow, and -15C in the Okanagan here in British Columbia.
Am considering making a blog part of my routine, but spring is an incredibly busy time for me here. Have a large farm and also a turf farm business, acres and acres of lawn to mow.

Darla, thanks for the comments, I do hope that more people decided to have a look at your post regarding your son. What happened to him is horrible. How is he doing?

Thank you also for adding me to your blog list, I will be updating mine in the next few days, and will happily add yours also.

Hi Darla, I had to stop and see your wonderful blooms. We are having a snow storm. So I had to find some blooms to warm me up. Thanks

You are on the ball planting seeds inside already. I have got to get on it. Last year I had my tomatoes planted inside by the end of January. I just love seeing all of your plants and flowers. It is like a breath of fresh air because it is so cold and everything is dead here. I look forward every morning to seeing what you are up to. My favorite was you and the girls packing the seeds though. I would like to see them some more.

My amaryllis from last year were outside also. Now they are mush. Frozen.

How wonderful that you don't get too cold, and have flowers most of the year. We have had a really hard winter [for us ]
